welcome to my humble abode

hey, i’m ian 👋

i’m currently a first-year software engineering student at the university of waterloo, and i love everything from tech to philosophy to hosting events to learning new languages. but that doesn’t really tell you anything about who i actually am..

who am i really?

i was born in toronto, on 📌
i spent most of high-school thinking i wanted to go into trading/finance 💸
volunteered at a couple of non-profits, started one of my own at 16 that connects students with opportunities (5k+ students)
started a business at 16 - drone photography/videography for real estate
lost interest in business and decided to pursue tech in senior year
applied to 23 schools in canada + us
accepted to uc berkeley met (50 student cohort), nyu stern, and waterloo cs/se
$420k+ in scholarships at canadian schools (schulich leader @ mcgill, national president’s scholarship @ western, etc.)
enrolled at waterloo software engineering (💜)
living in nyc for co-op

where am i right now?

interning at bloomberg as a swe intern
studying software engineering @ university of waterloo
building digital infrastructure for storing memories and the human consciousness

🌱 I’m Currently Working On

I’m currently building out a couple of cool projects, including Portal - a wearable AI tool that lets you rewind your memories! I also spend almost every other weekend destroying my sleep schedule at hackathons, so check out my DevPost!. Finally, I’m also part of a few entrepreneurship incubators, such as Velocity and Eigenspace, where I love meeting cool people :)
